Errors can arise in various instances, including during the import process. However, with the import tool, these errors can be easily addressed and resolved.
How does Elovate handle errors?
Before we dive into the types of errors and their resolution, it's important to understand how Elovate handles errors. Elovate directly interfaces with the Magento API. In essence, this implies that Magento rules apply directly to Elovate.
Generating an error in Elovate
Let's see how Elovate handles an error!
Go to Import / Export > Import > Add new import
Fill in the required fields
Create a file and include SKUs with a multi-select attribute. Importing a multi-select attribute in Magento can cause an error if there's an incorrect value. Let's intentionally input an incorrect multi-select value to recreate an error.
Load the file into the import and press "Validate import" and revisit the import. You've successfully created an error.
Solving an error in Elovate before importing
Now that you've encountered an error, it's time to address it. Navigate to the "Fix errors" tab where you can identify the error and determine how you want to resolve it. You have the options to "Skip value," "Skip item," or transform the incorrect attribute option to an existing one. In this scenario, you can update the attribute "Blak" to match the existing color attributes within your Magento installation, in this case "Zwart".
After selecting the desired action, click on "Save settings and validate import." Elovate will initiate the data transformation process. Once completed, revisit the import to review and confirm the resolution of the previous error. Now you have the option to import.
Solving an error in Elovate after importing
In certain scenarios, it's possible to execute imports without Elovate immediately detecting an error. Let me walk you through an example. Suppose you aim to import SKU 100 and establish a relationship with another SKU, 201 (cross-sell). You can achieve this by adding a header in your file and placing the SKU you wish to be related to in a specific field. However, if you input an incorrect value, such as 200, there will be an issue later.
Elovate conducts error checks, but initially, this isn't considered an error or conflict with Magento. It's only during the import process that Magento and Elovate recognize that the SKU intended to link the product doesn't exist, resulting in an error.
In this case, SKU 100 cannot establish a cross-sell relationship with SKU 200 (as the error indicates) because SKU 200 doesn't exist in Magento or the file. To resolve this, if you want to link SKU 201 to SKU 100, simply replace the incorrect SKU 200 with SKU 201, ensuring it corresponds to a valid entry.
Different types of errors and their resolutions
Missing required attribute / Attribute value is empty: Your Magento installation has an attribute that must be added to the file when creating new products. To resolve this, add the missing attribute to your file or change the required attribute to a non-required one. This adjustment needs to be made within Magento. The attribute syncs take about 15 minutes.
Missing parameters SKU: The error message, enclosed in brackets "[" "]", indicates which SKU is not being recognized. Resolve this issue by changing the non-existing SKU to an existing one.
Couldn't connect to Magento: If Elovate can't connect to Magento there has been a change in either Elovate's settings or Magento settings. In most cases the API-token is not working properly anymore. You can fix this by following the "connect your mangeto 2 store to Elovate".
No updates found: While not classified as an error, it may be perceived as one. This message can occur when there are updates. For instance, if the Multi-select delimiter is not used correctly or if you attempt to import a price without utilizing the "update empty" option, the message "no updates found" may appear, even when there are potential. updates you are attempting to make. For more information click on "Multi select delimiter" and update empty visit
500 Errors: If you encounter a 500 error, please reach out to us via email or the Intercom chat in Elovate. This issue may stem from an Elovate error triggered by an update or patch.
Attribute isn't unique: Some attributes, like the EAN code, must be unique. Please navigate to your file, make the necessary adjustments, validate, and then proceed with the import.
URL key already exists: URL keys must be unique. When you encounter this error message, generate a new and distinct URL key either in Magento or Elovate.
Internal error: An internal error originates from Magento, and the specific details can be found in the Magento log file. When this error occurs, a report Id is generated. Ask your Magento Developer to take a look.
