Search & Replace in Elovate

Find & update text across entities or reschedule translations—quick fixes or content rework

Updated this week

The Search & Replace tool in Elovate allows you to quickly find and update text across products, categories, CMS pages, and other supported entities.
It can also be used to reschedule translations when you want to retranslate specific content.

You can find it under:

Apps → Search & Replace

When you open the app, you’ll see a list of all your search & replace jobs.
If no jobs exist yet, the list will be empty.

3. Standard search & replace vs. reschedule translations

When to use search & replace:

  • Ideal for quick corrections or updates in specific store views

  • Works best when changes are straightforward and grammatical context is not important

When to use reschedule translations:

  • Better for content that needs to be retranslated for grammatical accuracy, tone, or context

  • Especially recommended when using GPT

  • For best results, first add the updated word or phrase to your glossary so future translations remain consistent

Remember: both search & replace and reschedule translations are one-time fixes, while glossary entries are permanent and apply to future translations.

4. Job validation

Once you save the job:

  • The job status will be validating

  • After checks are complete, the status changes to validated

  • Click on the job to open the review tab

5. Reviewing results

If matches are found, they will appear in a list with:

  • Identifier (e.g., SKU or ID)

  • Attributes updated

Clicking on a result shows:

  • Old value vs. new value

Note: HTML is not displayed in the preview but can still be changed if included in the search term.

If no results appear and you were expecting them, review your search settings.

6. Running the job

From the review tab, you can:

  • Run search & replace – apply the changes immediately

  • Save for now – keep the job for later execution

When the job runs, status changes to importing
When done, the status is done

7. Logs and reverting changes

After completion:

  • Logs tab

    • Shows job ID, date, number of updated items, and whether the job was reverted

    • You can revert the job to restore original content

  • Synchronisation log tab

    • Lists results synced to Magento

    • Shows whether each item synced successfully or had errors
