How to use the Search & replace?
Updated over a week ago

Search & replacec is ment to, you guessed it search & replace data. This can be extremely helpful finding data that is incorrect and updating it correctly in bulk.

Step 1 - Navigate to the Search & replace

The search & replace feature is available for all users. You can find it below the synchronization log, or simply visit: https://app.elovate.io/searchreplace.

Step 2 - Create a Search & Replace

Press: "Add new search & replace". Once you've pressed this you will see the followinggg menu:

First, add the store view where you wish to search and replace an entity. Next, give the job a name and select an entity type. Entities can vary from products, categories, attributes, pages, to blocks.

Now that you've completed the basic settings, you can upload your search & replace actions via CSV if you have a large number of entities. Additionally, you can choose whether to match exact words, which is an important setting.

Example: Text to search: 'Party' → Text to replace with: 'Party!

In this case, Elovate will replace 'Party' with 'Party!' However, if the 'exact words' option is turned off, Elovate will also replace instances of 'Part' in entities that contain it, as the tool searches based on partial matches when exact word matching is disabled.

The 'Replace Items' section is self-explanatory, as shown in the example. In the left column, enter the word(s) you want to change, and in the right column, enter the desired replacement.

See below here an example of how this looks like:

Once you’ve finished configuring the search & replace, click 'Save Search & Replace.' Elovate will then check for potential matches.

After the validation is complete, it will display 'validated,' indicating that the check for potential hits is finished. Click on the job once it’s validated, and you will be directed to the 'Review' tab if any updates were found.

In the example, you can see the update. If this is what you want, click 'Run Search & Replace' to execute the job.

Once executed, the job status will change to 'processing.' When it switches to 'done,' the job has been completed.

Step 3 - Review the results

Once the job is complete, you can revisit it anytime for potential updates. Simply click on the job and check the 'synchronization log,' which will display all changes made by the search & replace action.
