Glossaries and Search & Replace share some similarities, but this documentation explains their key differences and specific uses.
To keep it simple:
Search & Replace is used for post-translation corrections or to fix inaccurate data.
Glossaries help prevent incorrect data during the translation process.
If you want to pre-define elements before translation, use glossaries. However, there are times when you may want to adjust elements after translation. In that case, follow these steps:
First, correct the issue using Search & Replace. Once the errors are fixed, go to the Glossaries and add the term that originally prompted the need for Search & Replace.
Here’s an example for better understanding. Please refer to the following documentation first:
Example (ENG → NL):
The word 'Apple' has been translated to 'Appel.'
Go to Search & Replace and change 'Appel' to 'Apple.'
Once 'Appel' has been corrected to 'Apple,' go to Glossaries.
Add the following glossary: 'Appel' → 'Apple.'
In this scenario, you’ve fixed the mistake and ensured it won’t happen again in the future.
