A glossary in Elovate is a collection of custom terms and their approved translations that ensures consistent wording across all your translated content.
It acts as a terminology guide for the translation provider (DeepL or ChatGPT), helping avoid mistakes or unwanted changes to brand names, product terms, or industry-specific vocabulary.


1. Why glossaries matter

  • Brand consistency – Make sure your product names, brand names, and slogans are always translated the same way.

  • Technical accuracy – Prevent misinterpretation of industry jargon or technical terms.

  • SEO control – Keep your targeted keywords intact in all translations.

Example:
If you have a product called Elovate Boost, you can add it to the glossary so it never gets translated.


2. How glossaries work in Elovate

  • Glossaries are stored under Apps → Translations → Glossaries.

  • Each glossary entry contains:

    • Source term – The original word or phrase.

    • Target term(s) – The exact translation(s) to use in each supported target language.

  • When a translation job runs, Elovate sends your glossary to the translation provider so those terms are handled exactly as defined.


3. Types of glossary rules

  • Do not translate – Keep the term exactly as in the source text.

  • Forced translation – Always replace with your specified translation.


4. Where glossaries are used

  • Applied automatically to any translation job when selected during job setup.

  • Can be reused across multiple jobs and projects.


5. Best practices

  • Create one master glossary for each source → target language pair.

  • Keep glossaries up to date as new products, brand names, or technical terms are introduced.

  • Avoid unnecessary terms — only include words that must be handled in a specific way.
