Using product templates for exports

Quickly create and use product templates in Elovate to streamline exports, ensure consistent attributes, and simplify bulk data handling

Product templates in Elovate let you predefine a set of product attributes that can be quickly loaded into export jobs. This saves time and ensures consistent data selection across multiple exports.

1. What are product templates?

A product template is a saved list of attributes, along with optional filters and display preferences.
Each template can be assigned to one or more areas in Elovate:

  • Product view – controls which attributes are shown when viewing a product

  • Export – preloads attribute selections for export jobs

  • Content enrichment – helps with content editing workflows

In this article, we’ll focus on templates for exports.

2. Creating a product template for export

  1. Go to General settings → Product templates.

  2. You’ll see an overview of existing templates, showing:

    • Template name

    • Total attributes included

    • Where the template is assigned (Product view, Export, or Content enrichment)

  3. Click Create new product template. A slide-over form will appear.

  4. Fill in:

    • Name – something descriptive, e.g. Export – Basic product data

    • Where to use it – select Export

    • Attribute set filter (optional) – limits the template to a specific attribute set

    • Hide default attributes on product page – toggle Yes/No

  5. Select attributes by searching for them by code or name.

  6. Drag and drop attributes to reorder them.

  7. Click Save to create the template.

3. Using a product template in an export job

  1. Go to Apps → Import / Export → Export.

  2. Click Add new export.

  3. Fill in the export settings as you normally would:

    • Store view

    • Name of the export

    • Export type and frequency

    • Optional rule builder filters

  4. In the Load attributes from a product template dropdown, select your template.

    • This will instantly load the attributes you predefined earlier.

  5. Continue setting up the export and click Save when done.

4. Why use product templates for exports?

  • Consistency – ensures all exports use the same attribute set.

  • Speed – no need to manually select attributes each time.

  • Scalability – ideal when you have many exports with different filters but the same data fields.
